4. AI-Powered Features and Google Gemini

Zapply uses Google Gemini (paid tier) to generate answers to job application questions based on your profile data. Here is exactly what happens:

4.1. What Data Goes to Google

When you use the AI answer feature, Zapply sends to Google Gemini: - The text of the application question (from the employer’s website) - Relevant portions of your profile (experience, skills, education) - Your resume content, when relevant to the question

4.2. What Google Does With Your Data

Because Zapply uses Google Gemini’s paid tier: - Google does NOT use your data to train its AI models. Your prompts and responses are not used for model improvement. - Google retains your data only for a limited period solely for detecting and preventing policy violations (abuse prevention). It is not retained indefinitely. - No human reviewers read your data. Unlike the free tier, paid-tier data is not reviewed by human annotators. - A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is in place between Zapply and Google, with Google acting as a data processor under GDPR-compliant terms.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the United Kingdom: Google provides these paid-tier protections automatically, regardless of Zapply’s subscription level.

4.3. Your Control

4.4. AI Transparency

Some answers to job application questions are generated or assisted by artificial intelligence. Zapply clearly indicates which answers are AI-generated within the extension interface before you submit them. You are always responsible for reviewing and approving the accuracy of any information submitted to employers.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities within the timeframes required by applicable law (72 hours under GDPR, without unreasonable delay under state breach notification laws).

10. International Data Transfers

Zapply is a US-based company. Your data is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you are accessing Zapply from the EU/EEA, UK, or elsewhere outside the US, your data will be transferred to the US.

For EU/EEA/UK users: - We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (as implemented in our sub-processors’ DPAs) and Google’s DPA (which includes GDPR-compliant data processing terms) for lawful data transfers - Google Gemini’s paid tier provides GDPR-equivalent protections for EEA/UK/Switzerland users regardless of transfer mechanism

11. Children’s Privacy

Zapply is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. We access webpage content only when you actively use the autofill feature on a specific job application page
